A delicious and comforting sausage breakfast strata perfect for brunch gatherings, combining layers of bread, sausage, and cheese with a rich egg mixture.

  • 8 slices of bread, cubed
  • 1 pound of sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup of shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of dried mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon of paprika
  • Optional: chopped vegetables (like bell peppers or onions)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent the strata from sticking.
  2. In the prepared dish, layer the cubed bread, crumbled sausage, and shredded cheese.
  3. Whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, dried mustard, and paprika until well blended.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and sausage layers, ensuring the bread is well soaked.
  5. If desired, mix in your chopped vegetables.
  6. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
  7. Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes, until firm and golden brown.
  8. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Perfect for meal prepping and can be made ahead of time. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
