A comforting and aromatic dish featuring fluffy jasmine rice infused with caramelized onions and butter.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup jasmine rice
  • 2 cups water or broth
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 medium golden onions, thinly sliced
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat until bubbly.
  2. Add the sliced onions to the bubbling butter and cook until caramelized and golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water in a fine mesh strainer until the water runs clear.
  4. Add the rinsed rice and water or broth to the pot with the caramelized onions, stirring gently to combine.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.
  6. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 15-18 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
  7. Fluff the rice with a fork and season with salt and pepper to taste, garnishing with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

This rice can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in the microwave with a sprinkle of water.
