A simple and delicious slow-cooked pulled pork recipe, perfect for gatherings or busy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pounds pork shoulder
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the sliced onion and minced garlic in the bottom of the slow cooker, laying a flavorful foundation for the pork.
  2. Rub the pork shoulder all over with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and brown sugar, ensuring every inch is coated for maximum flavor.
  3. Place the seasoned pork on top of the onions and garlic, creating a mouthwatering mix that will infuse tender meat with flavor.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, chicken broth, and apple cider vinegar. Pour this saucy mixture over the pork, letting it cover the flesh completely.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 480–600 minutes, or until the pork becomes so tender that it shreds easily with a fork.
  6. Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker, shred it with two forks, and return it to mix with the sauce. Serve it on buns with additional barbecue sauce if you like.
