Decadent brownies with a unique twist using sourdough discard for a fudgy texture and rich flavor.

  • 1/2 cup sourdough discard
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
  2. Mix the melted butter and sugar until well combined.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  4. Stir in the sourdough discard, ensuring it’s well incorporated.
  5. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  6. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet, mixing until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Cool, then cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or drizzled with chocolate sauce for an added treat. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
