A delightful way to use your sourdough discard, this pull-apart garlic bread combines buttery garlic goodness with fresh parsley, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup active sourdough starter discard
  • 2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic (minced) or 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ cup fresh chopped parsley
  • Cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or dairy-free cheese)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients in a large mixing bowl, mix sourdough discard, flour, salt, and warm water until a shaggy dough forms.
  2. Knead the Dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours.
  4. While the dough is rising, melt butter in a saucepan, add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Remove from heat and stir in parsley.
  5. Once risen, punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface, dividing it into small pieces.
  6. Dip each piece into the garlic butter mixture, coating well.
  7. Layer the pieces in a greased bundt or loaf pan, stacking them as you go.
  8. Cover the pan with a towel and let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
  9. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Once baked, let the bread cool for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

For added flavor, brush more garlic butter on top during the last 5 minutes of baking. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
