Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Knead the dough gently on a floured surface a few times.
  6. Roll out the dough to about 1 inch thick, then cut out biscuits.
  7. Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Use cold butter for flaky biscuits. Don’t overmix; a few lumps are fine.
