A deliciously spicy, crispy chicken sandwich made easy in the air fryer, perfect for a healthier take on comfort food.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 sandwich buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Pickles
  • Creamy sauce (e.g., mayonnaise, sriracha, and a pinch of garlic powder)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken breasts in buttermilk for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
  2. Mix together the flour, cayenne pepper, paprika, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade and dredge it in the flour mixture until fully coated.
  5. Place the chicken in the air fryer basket and cook for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and thoroughly cooked, flipping halfway through.
  6. Toast the sandwich buns in the air fryer for about 2-3 minutes until they are warm and lightly crispy.
  7. Spread the creamy sauce on the toasted buns, add the crispy chicken, followed by lettuce, tomato slices, and pickles.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For extra flavor, add garlic powder to the flour coating. Marinating overnight enhances flavor.
