Delicious hand-wrapped wontons filled with ground chicken and served with a spicy chili sauce, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • Wonton wrappers
  • Ground chicken
  • Fresh ginger, grated
  • Garlic cloves, minced
  • Soy sauce
  • Sesame oil
  • Chili oil
  • Rice vinegar
  • Scallions, chopped
  • Toasted sesame seeds
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • White pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, grated ginger, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, white pepper, and salt. Mix until well-combined and let it refrigerate for 10 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  2. Assemble the Wontons: Take one wonton wrapper at a time and place a small spoonful of the prepared filling in the center. Wet the edges of the wrapper with a bit of water, fold it into a triangle, and pinch the corners to seal them, creating little pouches of deliciousness.
  3. Create the Spicy Chili Sauce: In a separate small bowl, whisk together chili oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and chopped scallions. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed; you want the sauce to be a perfect balance of spicy, sweet, and savory.
  4. Boil to Perfection: In a large pot of boiling water, carefully add the wontons in batches. Boil them for about 5-6 minutes or until they float to the surface and the wrappers turn translucent. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and set aside.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Divide the wontons into bowls. Generously pour the spicy chili sauce over the top and garnish with scallions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve immediately and watch as they disappear!

Notes

These wontons are fantastic on their own, but pair beautifully with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad. For storage, boiled wontons keep for up to 2 days in the fridge, and uncooked ones can be frozen for up to a month.
