Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Creaming together the granulated sugar and butter until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, along with the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
  6. If desired, divide the dough and add food coloring.
  7. Roll the dough into small balls, about a tablespoon each.
  8. Roll each ball in powdered sugar.
  9. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them out.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set.
  11. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

These cookies can be customized with food coloring and flavors. Room temperature ingredients yield the best texture.
