A moist and decadent chocolate cake perfect for gatherings, topped with glossy chocolate frosting.

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare the baking sheet: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a large baking sheet.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Create the cocoa mixture: In a saucepan, combine the butter and water; bring to a boil. Stir in the cocoa powder until smooth.
  4. Combine cocoa with dry ingredients: Pour the hot cocoa mixture into the flour mixture and stir well.
  5. Incorporate the eggs and buttermilk: Add the eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk; mix until combined.
  6. Spread the batter: Pour the batter into the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly.
  7. Bake until perfect: Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Prepare the frosting mixture: In a saucepan, combine the butter, cocoa powder, and milk; bring to a boil.
  9. Mix in the sugar: Remove from heat and stir in the powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
  10. Frost the warm cake: Pour the frosting over the warm cake and spread to cover.
  11. Allow to cool: Finally, allow to cool before serving.

Notes
