These delightful cookie bars combine creamy peanut butter, chocolate, and festive candies, making them perfect for Valentine’s Day celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 3/4 to 1 cup Valentine-colored M&M’s
  • 2 tablespoons Valentine sprinkles (optional)
  • Flaky sea salt (optional)
  • For the optional drizzle: 1/2 cup white chocolate chips, 1 teaspoon neutral oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan by lightly greasing it and lining it with parchment paper.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Combine the melted butter and peanut butter in a bowl.
  4. Add brown sugar and granulated sugar, mixing until thick and glossy.
  5. Incorporate the eggs, whisking one at a time, then add the vanilla.
  6. Mix the dry ingredients in a separate bowl and combine with the wet ingredients.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips into the batter.
  8. Press the dough into the prepared pan evenly.
  9. Add half of the M&Ms and sprinkles on top.
  10. Bake for 18 to 24 minutes until lightly golden.
  11. Cool the bars completely before cutting.
  12. Drizzle melted white chocolate on top, if desired.
  13. Slice into squares and serve.

Notes

For a fudgier texture, chill bars in the fridge before cutting. Store in an airtight container.
