A classic Italian dessert that is creamy, smooth, and infused with vanilla, perfect for impressing guests or treating yourself.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin
  • 3 tablespoons cold water
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Heat the cream mixture: In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract. Heat over medium heat, stirring gently until the sugar dissolves and the cream is warm—but do not bring it to a boil!
  2. Soften the gelatin: In a separate bowl, sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over the cold water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to soften.
  3. Combine the gelatin with the cream: Once your cream mixture is heated, remove it from the heat and stir in the softened gelatin until it’s completely dissolved.
  4. Add the milk: Gently stir in the milk, blending everything together smoothly.
  5. Pour into molds: Pour the panna cotta mixture into your favorite molds or glasses.
  6. Chill until set: Place them in the refrigerator and let them chill for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  7. Serve chilled: Unmold the panna cotta or serve directly from the glasses, optionally garnished with fresh berries or caramel sauce.

Notes

If unmolding is difficult, dip the mold in warm water. Adjust flavorings as desired by infusing cream with other extracts or herbs.
